About Moth Mart

Hey there! I am an autistic/ADHD creator, originally from the Midwest, and I have loved to draw for as long as I can remember. I often find myself drawing plants, animals, and little goofy pictures of cats. I went to school for graphic design at Iowa State, and learned how to integrate my illustration skills into a digital platform. After working at various agencies, I learned the 9 to 5 was not great for my neurodivergent brain and shifted to a life that accommodated my needs and my personal goals. I identify as non-binary and bisexual and am LGBTQ+ friendly.

The Start

Moth Mart originally started as Tiny Leaf Studio as a one-time booth at a local market, in Phoenix, Arizona by me, Emily! Business was so great that first market, I had to go ahead and keep signing up for more opportunities. After getting comfortable in the Phoenix market space, life picked me up and moved me to the Bay Area in California.

Process

All designs and illustrations are hand-drawn digitally or drawn and scanned, and then made into cards, prints, and stickers, and more goodies! After I draw out my design, I print, trim, and fold myself, meaning all Moth Mart cards and prints are handcrafted. Due to the handmade nature, each product might (and definitely will) vary slightly in trim and color.

I try to be as sustainable and waste-free as possible. To do that, I use scraps from trimming paper for packaging on the sticky notes, note pads, and mini cards. The rest of my paper scraps get used to make handmade paper. B-grade prints and cards are turned into buttons. All packaging used can be recycled!
